Clarity, support, and a way forward
Welcome. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or caught in patterns that aren’t working, therapy can help you make sense of what’s going on and find a way forward.
I’m Julian, a registered counsellor and psychotherapist. I offer a calm, professional space where we can think carefully about what’s happening in your life and how things might change.
A Safe Space for Your Story
Life presents us all with challenges that can feel overwhelming. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, addiction, trauma, or simply feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns, you don’t have to navigate these experiences alone. Therapy offers a unique opportunity to be truly heard and understood, without judgment, while developing the tools and insights you need to move forward.
Experience you can rely on
I’ve worked across NHS and private settings, including forensic inpatient care, addiction services, and primary care in the community. This has given me experience with a wide range of difficulties, from more transient challenges seen in primary care to more complex and longstanding issues in inpatient settings.
This work has shaped my understanding of how difficulties develop and how change happens. I work with people facing anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, relationship difficulties, and times when things feel stuck or unclear.
A space to think and be understood
Therapy offers something that is often missing in everyday life: time and space to think clearly, speak openly, and feel understood without judgement.
You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit. Many people come to therapy because something doesn’t feel quite right, or because they want to understand themselves and their patterns more clearly.
How I work
My approach is both evidence-based and tailored to you. I draw on different psychological approaches and adapt them to your needs, goals, and preferences.
The relationship we build is central. Feeling heard and understood creates the conditions for change. I aim to provide a space where you can explore difficult experiences, speak openly, and develop a clearer understanding of yourself and your relationships.
Areas of particular experience
Addiction and addictive behaviours
Alongside specialist experience in this area, the work is shaped by ongoing research and current thinking. Support is offered at all stages, whether someone is just starting to question their relationship with substances or behaviours, or is working to maintain longer term change.
Trauma and difficult experiences
A trauma informed approach underpins the work, with careful attention to pacing so that things feel manageable and safe.
Anxiety and depression
The focus is on how these show up in each person’s life, rather than relying on a one size fits all model.
Getting started
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. An initial consultation gives us the chance to discuss what’s going on for you, what you’re looking for, and whether working together feels like a good fit.
If you’re considering therapy, you’re welcome to get in touch by telephone or email.
