HAMLIN

Therapy tailored to you

Therapy is something we do together. I bring my training and experience, and you bring your own understanding of your life. Between us, we can begin to make sense of what’s happening and think about what might help.

There isn’t one approach that suits everyone. I draw on established psychological methods, but adapt how I work to fit you, rather than following a fixed model.

What therapy can help with

Therapy provides a structured space to:

  • Understand patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour

  • Make sense of difficult experiences

  • Develop more effective ways of coping

  • Improve relationships and communication

  • Build confidence and resilience

  • Make clearer decisions about your life

Types of work

Short-term, focused therapy
This is suitable if you have a specific issue or goal. It typically involves a defined number of sessions and focuses on practical change.

Examples include:

  • Managing anxiety in a particular situation

  • Navigating a life transition

  • Developing coping strategies

  • Support during a difficult period

Longer-term psychotherapy
This allows for deeper, more exploratory work over time.

It can help you:

  • Understand recurring patterns

  • Explore the roots of long-standing difficulties

  • Work through complex or multiple issues

  • Develop a stronger sense of self

Areas of particular experience

Addiction and addictive behaviours
I have specialist experience in this area and keep my work informed by ongoing research. I work with people at all stages, from those just beginning to question their relationship with substances or behaviours to those maintaining longer-term change.

Trauma and difficult experiences
I provide trauma-informed therapy, working at a pace that feels manageable and safe.

Anxiety and depression
I work with how these present in your life specifically, rather than applying a generic model.

Relationships
This includes patterns in close relationships, communication difficulties, and how past experiences affect current connections.
